Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), also known as Tapping, combines acupressure with modern psychology to offer profound benefits for mental, emotional, and physical well-being. While the traditional method of EFT involves identifying distress, rating it on a SUD (Subjective Units of Distress) scale, tapping on the Karate chop point while affirming your set-up statement, and then tapping on the rest of the 8 tapping points while affirming your reminder phrase, there are many creative ways to incorporate Tapping into your daily life. Here are five unique methods to help you release stress, overcome limiting beliefs, process emotions, and foster a deeper connection with yourself.

1. Vent It Out

One of the simplest and most effective forms of Tapping is what I call “Vent It Out.” This free-flowing technique doesn’t follow strict rules and is ideal for any stressful situation. Simply tap on the EFT points while you vent your feelings. Talk, cry, shout, and express whatever is on your mind. This method creates a safe space to feel and release emotions, gain clarity, or develop self-awareness by uncovering the root of your feelings and finding a solution naturally.

2. Pre-Event Tapping

If you have an upcoming event that is causing you stress or anxiety, such as a test, job interview, or public speaking engagement, you can use Tapping beforehand to neutralize your emotions. Start by tapping on the side of your hand and acknowledging your anxiety (e.g., “Even though the thought of speaking in public causes me stress, I choose to relax and trust that all will be well”). Then, tap through the points while addressing your feelings, allowing yourself to relax, and finishing with confidence-boosting affirmations.

3. Tapping in Public

Sometimes, you might find yourself in a stressful situation without the privacy to tap freely. In such cases, you can tap discreetly on one point, like the side of the eye or collarbone, using one hand. Alternatively, you can press the points instead of tapping, which is even more subtle. This method allows you to manage stress and anxiety without drawing attention to yourself.

4. Tapping with Daily Affirmations

If you love using affirmations, combining them with Tapping can enhance their effectiveness. This practice helps rewire your subconscious mind towards the positive changes you desire. Integrate Tapping into your morning routine by tapping while saying your affirmations to start the day with a positive mindset. This method helps you embody the new feelings and beliefs you wish to cultivate.

5. Guided Videos

Following along with tapping scripts or guided videos, like the ones I offer on my YouTube channel, can be incredibly helpful, especially if you’re new to EFT. Select a video that resonates with your current struggle and follow it daily for 21 days, or longer if needed, until you notice a change. These videos provide structure and support, making it easier to tackle specific issues.

Conclusion

By exploring these five methods, you can build a versatile Tapping toolkit to support your daily life. Whether you’re venting out your emotions, preparing for a stressful event, managing anxiety in public, enhancing affirmations, or following guided videos, EFT can be a powerful ally on your path to personal growth and freedom. Happy Tapping!
